YG Entertainment's rookie girl group BABYMONSTER's debut group will finally be unveiled.
The official lineup of BABYMONSTER members will be unveiled on May 12th at 12:00 AM KST. Global Kpop fans are paying keen attention to who will be the final selected members among so many trainees.
Perhaps the biggest mystery about BABYMONSTER is its number of members. Executive producer Yang Hyun Suk was previously quoted saying, "Ever since I started thinking of planning for this group BABYMONSTER, the number of members I had in mind was five. None of the girl groups produced at YG had many members. 4 in 2NE1 and 4 in BLACKPINK too."
Yang Hyun Suk's statements alarmed fans as the pre-debut BABYMONSTER currently has seven members—Ahyeon, Rora, Ruka, Asa, Pharita, Chiquita, and Haram. If Yang Hyun Suk sticks to his original plan with five member, it means two trainees won't be able to debut with the group.
However, there is still hope as Yang Hyun Suk pointed out, "I haven’t yet decided the five final members."
Meanwhile, Hoony of YG's group Winner recently appeared on Mnet's "Girls Night Out" and mentioned BABYMONSTER, raising curiosity about whether it is a five-member group or a seven-member group.
"The company doesn't know yet how many people it will consist of," Hoony said, adding, "I don't know if it's a five-member or a seven-member group, but I support the debut of all seven members," As a result, many fans speculate that BABYMONSTER will be a seven-member group.
The truth about BABYMONSTER's official lineup will only be revealed on May 12th at 12 AM KST.
