SHINee's Taemin Talks Directly To Fans Over Rumors That He's Leaving SM Entertainment

Taemin, a member of the group "SHINee," talked directly to fans about his departure from his agency SM Entertainment 16 years after his debut.

Taemin said on the fan communication platform on the afternoon of the 6th, "I wanted to let you know carefully because I didn't want to worry as much as possible, but this happened."

Taemin, who is likely to make a new start after the exclusive contract with SM ends at the end of this month, explained, "Actually, I'm still cautious to bring up this story due to the timing, but it didn't seem polite to stay still without saying anything to someone who cares for me and loves me."

"I've been thinking a lot since last year. I've decided to come to the company. I've talked to my members well," he said. "Thank you to all the people who have helped me so far."

In addition, suggesting that the team's activities will continue through SM, he said, "I will continue to watch it anyway. Thank you for believing in my choice and for supporting me."

Finally, he added, "I've been and will be Lee Taemin anytime, anywhere. We haven't seen each other for a day or two, haven't we? I'll trust and make it so that there will be more good things. As a SHINee and as Taemin, I look forward to seeing you."

The other three members of SHINee are also considering their solo careers. Onew, who temporarily suspended their activities last year due to health issues, will reportedly not renew his contract with SM during the first half of the year. Minho and Key, other members of SHINee, are reportedly positively discussing individual activities with SM. "Don't worry," Minho wrote on his social media on the day.

Marking its 16th anniversary this year, SHINee is a representative of 2.5 generation K-pop idols and their stable skills are their strengths. They made hit songs such as "Noona, You're So Pretty," "LUCIFER," "Sherlock," "View," and "Don't Call Me." In particular, they are known as the originators of the refreshing line that is popular among 5th generation K-pop boy groups.
