SEVENTEEN's "FML" Is The World's Best-Selling Album in 2023 According to the IFPI

On February 28th Korean standard time, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry or IFPI released the ‘2023 Global Album Chart,' revealing SEVENTEEN's 10th mini album "FML" as the world's best-selling album in 2023, beating out hitmakers Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift.

Louis Morrison, IFPI Director of Global Charts, said, "We are pleased to award this year's IFPI 'Global Album Award' to 'FML', which has achieved incredible results around the world," adding, "SEVENTEEN continues to break boundaries in terms of their concept, performance, and talent. Congratulations to Seventeen and Carats around the world.”

Seventeen first entered the top 10 of the 'Global Album Chart' in 2022 with their 4th studio album 'Face the Sun'. This year, the boy group rose to the top, proving their global influence. Moreover, their 11th mini album, "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN," also ranked 8th place, making their achievement more colorful.

The ‘Global Album Chart’ is said to be ranked by adding up physical album sales, digital music downloads, and audio/video streaming figures. It is considered one of the objective indicators of the best-selling album in the global music market that year.

In South Korea alone, SEVENTEEN set a record last year by exceeding 16 million in cumulative album sales. In particular, 'FML' sold more than 6.27 million copies, recording the highest sales volume for a Kpop single album in history. This also earned the boy group multiple daesang or grand prize in different award ceremonies, with "FML" being named 'Album of the Year' in each of them.
