"You Have No Manners" — SEVENTEEN's Hoshi Speaks Out Against Sasaengs + Netizens' Reactions

SEVENTEEN's Hoshi is making headlines in South Korea for his firm warning against obsessive fans with stalking behavior, also known as sasaengs.

On November 9th, Hoshi held a live broadcast through Weverse to catch up with fans. However, the conversation shifted on a serious note when the idol opened up about the sasaengs who have been trying to call him. Hoshi said, "Don't call. I wouldn't do a live if you call me. I'm annoyed to even talk about this, really. Even if you call with a restricted caller ID, I can still report and file a complaint but i’m choosing not to do it because you might be young."

“I’m trying to take the time to have a good time with Carat (fandom name), so why are you interrupting me? Do you want to check if my number is correct? You have no manners," Hoshi added.

This isn't the first time Hoshi had to deal with sasaengs. Last month, according to reports, Hoshi experienced the same situation and told the sasaengs, "If you call me during a live performance, I will reveal your number, so please don’t call me."

A couple of years ago, an alleged sasaeng also came clean about their extreme behavior and claimed that while they were stalking the members' vehicle after a schedule, Hoshi got out of their company car together with their manager to confont them about their illegal and dangerous ways.

Meanwhile, Hoshi's firmness against the sasaengs' disturbing behavior instantly garnered mixed reactions from netizens, who commented:

  • They should be called sasaeng criminals.
  • It's getting worse these days.
  • Not only Hoshi, but these days, whenever the Seventeen members are on air, they keep calling to the point where they (the members) can't even do live chat.
  • How did they even know their numbers? The personal information leakage is serious.
  • Stop blaming the victim.... Why does the victim have to turn off their phone or put to do not disturb??
  • Pledis, do something!
  • It's not normal to harass the people you like.
  • I really hope he sues them.
  • It's ridiculous to blame a stalking victim by asking them to use do not disturb mode and not react.
  • These people pay to get this information so they are not that young. The person who is also selling their personal information should be sued.
  • Honestly, I wish the members would just ignore it and not mention it. I'm a fan, but it seems like they keep causing more trouble.
  • He should file a complaint ㅠㅠ The stalker should be punished.
  • I'm afraid they'll like it even more because they were warned. They should make the punishment for stalking crimes stricter.
  • Just pretend it's not your number and don't pay attention to it by not responding ㅜㅜ Just file a complaint whether they're young or not and don't be lenient.
  • I can't even imagine how much pain the kids must be in ㅠㅠ If only they had just sued the crazy sasaengs.
