JYP's Revenge Stage? — Netizens Divided as J.Y Park Takes the Stage Again Following Viral "Blue Dragon Performance"

Two weeks ago, J.Y Park made headlines when he performed at the 2023 Blue Dragon Film Awards. Many criticized his choice of wardrobe, makeup, and as well as his live singing skills. However, it wasn't just his jaw-dropping performance that caught attention, but also the stunned reaction of the celebrities who watched his stage.

Aware of the criticisms he received, J.Y Park vowed vengeance through his guesting on AKMU's late-night live music talk show, "The Seasons: Long Day, Long Night with AKMU."

The JYP Entertainment executive took to Instagram to tease his appearance on the show, as well as subtly explain what lead up to his viral performance, "Conditioning is definitely part of the game. So I had to do it again! :) Blue Dragon awards Revenge stage!♡"

On December 8th, J.Y Park's highly-awaited revenge stage was finally unveiled to the public. He also sat down for an interview and talked about what happened at the event. J.Y Park said, "I repeated the performance I did at the Blue Dragon Film Awards today. I was waiting and preparing for this stage today. My throat was so sore during the Blue Dragon Film Awards. That day was Friday, and I pre-recorded 'Music Bank' at 6AM."

"I was filming 'Golden Girls' and 'Music Festival' and doing a live broadcast there, and suddenly I couldn't hear my voice. The clothes, hair, and makeup were all good, but the singing didn't work the way I wanted," he added.

J.Y Park's 'revenge stage' and explanation about the Blue Dragon stage instantly became a hot topic, with Korean netizens commenting:

  • Since Blue Dragon his concept became normal, his singing and dancing became normal as well.
  • I admire Park Jinyoung's passion.
  • No... even the clothes...
  • It's better not to mention it... It's more shameful to ask people to spread the word that he was sick. The trainees and participants said that he was good at controlling his condition.
  • 'I wasn't in a good condition. I'll do better next time.' Why not just say this? He's a singer with decades of experience and now the CEO of a large entertainment company yet he's so cowardly.
  • Nothing changed. It feels like he's just giving excuses.
  • It's okay. Singers have good days and bad days.
  • The stage concept itself didn't fit Blue Dragon.
  • I love how sincere he is with his performances.
  • He's a really cool guy.
  • I have big respect for Park Jinyoung.
  • He's really good at taking care of himself. His singing and dancing skills are always great.
