SBS Employee Reportedly Apologized to Joy Following 'Shouting Incident'

On August 21st, according to Korean media outlets, the SBS employee who was caught in a video shouting at Red Velvet's Joy has apologized to the singer.

Recently, a video of Red Velvet's Joy on her way to the recording of SBS' 'Animal Farm' caught attention. In the video, the singer-actress can be seen approaching to greet the fans. However, at that time, an SBS employee can be heard shouting "Oh, get out of the way," "Go in quickly," "Go in," and "step back." Because of this, Joy moved back, looking confused.

Fans were instantly enraged, pointing out the employee's rude actions toward Joy. Others also clarified that the place where Joy stood was used as a 'photo zone' where celebrities meet with fans to talk and take photos. Moreover, it is said that Joy has been doing the 'mini fan greetings' for two years without a problem ever since she was selected as one of the fixed MCs of 'Animal Farm.'

Meanwhile, following the backlash, the employee later reportedly explained and apologized, saying it was a safety measure.

The apology instantly received mixed opinions, with netizens commenting:

  • I saw the video and he's shouting without honorifics. He's so mean.
  • How embarrassing it must've been.
  • The fans didn't do anything dangerous. They were just watching from afar... Yeah...
  • For safety reasons? She was at a safe distance!
  • It felt like he was taking his anger out on her.
  • If it was dangerous, he should've spoken calmly and formally.
  • He's the only one who knows if he's taking out his anger on her or something. In the end, he's a security guard doing his job. I think people are angry because the tone is so angry, but let's refrain from making too much slander at the security guard.
  • When I saw the video, it wasn't a dangerous place but the way he talked was still very rude.
  • Joy must have been so surprised... What the hell was that for? They're saying its for safety reasons but he sounded so angry.
  • I guess they don't do personality tests when you join SBS.
  • They're so good at making excuses.
  • I feel so bad for Joy.
