Ravi Publicly Apologizes + Announces Withdrawal from VIXX

On April 11th, Ravi bowed his head in an apology after being tried for corruption in the military service.

The rapper said in an official statement, "I apologize to everyone who has been damaged and hurt because of my fault."

He said, "In the past, while I was being judged for social service due to a pre-existing disease and was postponing my military service for activities, I reached a point where it was difficult to delay my military service any longer. I was the only artist in the company that made money at that time. Also, the contracts I signed before COVID-19 were being delayed due to COVID-19. I was in a situation where a huge penalty would be incurred," adding, "I made a foolish choice and volunteered to do social service since October last year."

"I want to sincerely apologize to the epileptic patients and their families who I must have hurt for making the wrong choice while rationalizing myself during this process and to all the military service members who are faithfully fulfilling their duties even at this moment. Also, to all the people who have been hurt by me and the fans who have passionately supported my life for a long time as a being beyond a singer, I sincerely apologize for making you feel unfair and crumbling for all the times I spent with you."

Ravi added, "I wanted to be a proud being, but I am ashamed to show such a shameful appearance. I think I was far from enough compared to your precious hearts for a long time. Lastly, I have decided to leave the team (VIXX)so that no further damage is done to them." He also conveyed his message to the members: "I sincerely thank all the members who have been with me for 11 long years, and I am sorry beyond words."

Ravi debuted in 2012 as a member of the boy group VIXX under Jellyfish Entertainment. Although he left Jellyfish and set up his own agency GROOL1N, he remained a member of the group.

Earlier in the day, Ravi attended the trial date for alleged violations of the Military Service Act, held at the Criminal 7 independent hearing of the Seoul Southern District Court. According to the prosecution, Ravi is accused of conspiring with broker Koo to be diagnosed with false epilepsy and being exempted from military service to become a social service worker instead. Ravi went on trial without detention after undergoing a warrant review.

According to the indictment, Ravi pretended to faint after receiving an 'epileptic scenario' from Mr. Koo and was examined at the hospital. Afterward, when he submitted a diagnosis of suspected epilepsy to the Military Manpower Administration, it was investigated that Mr. Koo sent a message saying, "Good, exemption from military service."

The prosecution demanded a two-year prison term for Ravi and pointed out, "The crime is poor in that he systematically applied for a discharge from the military service due to epilepsy and depression with a military broker and delayed his military service for a long time after the initial military service test. All of them are reflecting on themselves, but they consistently made excuses or denied the allegations before presenting specific evidence."
