Apink's Namjoo Embraces Her "BAD" Side in New MV

Group Apink's Kim Namjoo is back as a solo artist with an unconventional and bold transformation that sheds the innocent concept.

Kim Namjoo held a showcase to celebrate the release of her second single "BAD" at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on Tuesday afternoon. Entertainer Yoo Jae-pil hosted the showcase.

"BAD" is an album in which Kim Namjoo actively participated in the overall production process from concept planning. Kim Namjoo, who started her solo debut album "Bird," will present a bolder and more advanced artist appearance as if she spread her wings wide in "BAD."

Kim Namjoo said, "It's my first solo comeback in four years, and I've never performed in front of fans during 'Bird' because of COVID-19. I prepared 'BAD' with the mindset of debuting as a rookie Kim Namjoo. I'm going to work hard as a rookie from now on."

"Of course, I thought I should release another solo album after releasing "Bird," but now I think I wanted to release a solo album the most. I thought it was the right time, so I prepared it quickly. The company helped me a lot, so I prepared it a little faster," she explained.

The title song of the same name, "BAD," is a song with a confident message that she will not mind those who say "bad" to her candid appearance. Kim Namjoo's confident attitude is expected to encourage many people. In addition, "Mirror," which received attention for Daniel Henney's narration, and "Ridin' Out," which is warm and soft, are also included.

Kim Namjoo, who made an unconventional visual transformation through "BAD," said, "I was a little worried about the members as I made an unconventional transformation. I thought the members would be very surprised and embarrassed. I thought it would be a problem for the team because of the drastic transformation, but they said they wanted us to be more bold." "Rather, the leader Park Cho-rong said that, and all the teasers and music videos were 'Cool' and 'Chic'." She thanked the members. "That's why I feel like we're promoting together so much."

"I gave a bit of a point to the bold transformation. I tried to show you a fresh and new look that I boldly excluded from the previous ones in Kim Namjoo and Apink's Namjoo. I worked hard to give you good music," she said. "I think the most important thing was that there should be an unconventional part." I think Apink's pure concept itself is already clearly imprinted on the public. As a solo artist, I thought there should be a color that contrasts enough."

"Actually, I tend to focus on my opinion and myself rather than on others' eyes. If I have my opinion in the first place, I tend to talk confidently. "I tend to push ahead with my opinion, I tend to go my own way without worrying about others' negative views."

Lastly, regarding the evaluation and specific goals she wants to receive through this album, Kim Namjoo said, "Honestly, I don't think I've shown much as a solo artist. As a female solo artist, Kim Namjoo, I want to be recognized to some extent," adding, "The promotional goals are in line with each other. I want to be imprinted, if not recognized as a female solo artist. If the song also performs well in the charts, it would be great."

"There are things I want to be recognized for my skills. I think it's easy to perform on stage alone for 4 to 5 minutes. I also felt how difficult it would be for solo artists this time. I thought I should work harder as a solo artist, and I tried to show my best through this album. I want to be recognized as a singer in terms of performance and singing," she said.
