NewJeans Becomes First K-pop Girl Group to Perform at "New Year's Rockin' Eve"

NewJeans performed a spectacular performance at ABC's New Year's special show for the first time as a K-pop girl group.

NewJeans appeared on the U.S. ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024," which aired live from 8 p.m. on December 31 last year (10 a.m. local time, January 1st in Korean time), and performed two songs, "Super Shy" and "ETA."

New Year's Rocking Eve is the most watched New Year's special program in the United States, with top pop stars performing in Times Square and other parts of the world that year.

This year again, with prominent pop stars such as Post Malone, Ivy Queen, Cardi B, Jelly Roll, and Sabrina Carpenter, NewJeans showed off its "global trend" by being named the only K-pop artist in the "New Year's Rocking Eve" lineup.

On this day, NewJeans drew attention from viewers through their unique styling. In "Super Shy," high-teen charms were maximized with a preppy look, and in "ETA," they proved their outstanding concept pull-off with their non-obvious styling using point accessories.

The stage, which was decorated with large binky sticks and colorful devices, was also enough to attract global fans. The cheerful rhythm of "Super Shy" added a lot of energy with the winking dance group dance performed by NewJeans and dancers.

On the "ETA" stage, the cheering of the members and the cheering of the audience were harmonized. NewJeans' unique performance using a stand microphone as well as dynamic dancing and relaxed stage manners were outstanding. On the stage, which reminded people of the venue for the festival, the members all shouted "Happy New Year" together to heat up the scene.

On December 31, NewJeans also appeared in NHK's signature year-end special music program, "The Red and White Song Contest."

NewJeans, who joined as a special guest singer and received high attention from local media in Japan even before their appearance, made their mark with special medley performances of "OMG," "ETA" and "Ditto." Immediately after the stage, NewJeans' songs rose in the rankings on major Japanese music charts, and NewJeans rose to the real-time trend on social media.
