BTS Continues to Make History as ‘Butter’ Tops Oricon’s Five-Year Singles Chart

Nearly three years after its release, BTS’ record-breaking single, ‘Butter’ continues to make history.

On April 12, BigHit Music announced that BTS had just topped the five-year singles chart with ‘Butter’, released in 2021.

Oricon’s five-year rankings calculate Japan’s most popular single based on CD sales. The Reiwa rankings calculated the CD sales between May 2019 and January 2024.

BTS is the first non-Japanese artist to top Oricon’s five-year rankings.

The song ‘Butter’ by BTS won a total of 13 music show awards, topped the Billboard charts for ten weeks, and was nominated in the 64th GRAMMY Awards for Best Pop/Duo Performance.

The ‘Butter’ music video currently has 955 million views on YouTube.
