INFINITE's Woohyun Opens Up About Having Rare Cancer Surgery 7 Months Ago + Knetz Show Their Support

INFINITE's Nam Woohyun announced his intention to resume his activities after surgery for gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) cancer by releasing his new album.

On November 28th, Nam Woohyun released his new solo album "Whitree" through various music sites.

This album has a special meaning for Nam Woohyun and INSPIRIT (official fandom name of INFINITE), in that it is the first solo studio album since his debut with INFINITE's first mini album "First Invitation" in June 2010.

Nam Woohyun started his career as a solo artist through "Write..." in May 2016, he continued to expand his own music world by releasing a total of four mini albums, including "Second Write" in 2018, "A New Journey" in 2019, and "With" in 2021.

Initially, Nam Woohyun planned to release the 9th track of his album, "Kiss me if you love me," as a digital single. However, during the preparation of the new song, he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and had surgery, and inevitably delayed the comeback by about six months.

Nam Woohyun said, "A lot of things happened this year. I had cancer and had a major operation at the end of April. It's called gist cancer, it's a rare cancer. I underwent general anesthesia and had surgery for about 10 hours. I was hospitalized for a month, and it took me a while to recover. My parents were very worried, too. Fans only know that I just got an operation," he confessed.
