"What Was That?" — Korean Netizens Frustrated Over 'Boys Planet' 1st Survivor Announcement Ceremony

On February 24th, fans worldwide tuned in to Boys Planet's first survivor announcement ceremony, which was broadcasted live on the Mnet K-POP YouTube channel.

On this day, MC Yeo Jin Goo announced that the trainee who will rank 1st place in the finale will not just debut with the official group, but will also receive benefits such as getting the killing part of the debut song and even having a solo song in the group's debut album.

Moreover, during the broadcast, Lee Da Eul was announced as the first survivor. He ranked 13th, the highest among the K (Korean) and G (Global) trainees who performed 'Danger.' Lee Da Eul, who fell four places from 9th to 13th, said, "I want you to know that I have worked hard. If you work harder and trust me, I will approach you with a better image."

However, instead of announcing more rankings, the broadcast ended with MC Yeo Jin Goo saying, "The live broadcast ends here. Please check the rankings of the rest of the trainees through the next broadcast."

The unexpected ending of the broadcast left Korean netizens commenting:

  • What was that?
  • I'm so mad.
  • They do this all the time...
  • What's the point of that broadcast?
  • Where's your conscience?
  • We never even found out who was eliminated.
  • They should've at least eliminated someone.
  • I feel so empty. They have no conscience.
  • I want a signed apology from the PD.
  • The ones who didn't watch was the real winner.
