ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Gyuvin Apologizes For Using Controversial Terms

On the 19th, ZEROBASEONE's Kim Gyuvin wrote an apology for the recent controversy over his words and actions through the fan community.

He said, “In the process of communicating in a new way, I used expressions whose exact meaning and origin were unknown,” and “I sincerely apologize to many people who may have felt offended.”

As context, the said idol started communicating by replying to fans' comments. However, in the process, he was called out that he used several expressions that included sexual and misogynistic meanings, which soon spread controversy.

Recently, in an attempt to interact with fans in a new way, I found out that I used expressions whose exact meaning and origin were unknown, and I am deeply reflecting on this.

I sincerely apologize to the many people who may have been offended by my immaturity. I will continue to work hard on educating myself more and try to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I apologize once again to the fans who support me and all the people who have caused concern due to this incident.


ZEROBASEONE is a project boy group formed through Mnet's idol debut survival program, 'Boys Planet'. They debuted on July 10th and recently held a fan con at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
