Global fandom platform Weverse will open a private chat service "Weverse DM" with the official community of Japanese idol group AKB48.

AKB48 is a top Japanese idol group that has been active since 2005. It has grown into an idol group representing Japan through fan-participating events such as "AKB48 Selection General Election" and "Request Hour." The group is actively engaged in various fields such as entertainment and acting as well as music, and will release the 61st single "I Like You" on the 26th.

Currently, more than 80 members belong to AKB48, and 16 members selected for the single title song will first enter Weverse on the 26th, followed by other members. One of the first 16 members include Hitomi Honda, who used to be a member of the girl group IZ*ONE, and in addition, Yui Oguri, Yuki Kashiwagi, and MUKAICHI, who are actively working in Japanese dramas and advertisements.

Weverse will open AKB48's official community on April 27 and start the DM service on May 2 to provide a service that allows artists and fans to communicate more closely.

Hitomi Honda, a member of AKB48, said, "I am very happy and excited to interact with fans around the world through Weverse."

Weverse will hold a hashtag posting event from April 28 to May 2 to commemorate the opening of the AKB48 community and DM. If you leave a welcome greeting with the #WELCOME_AKB48 hashtag in the AKB48 community, you will receive an AKB48 autograph through a lottery. Winners will be announced on the AKB48 community on May 12. In addition, in commemoration of the opening of AKB48 Weverse DM, an event will be held until June 1 to provide additional days for subscription payments. Details of the event can be found on the Weverse community.

Meanwhile, Weverse currently operates an official community of about 80 domestic and foreign artists and audition programs, and is reborn as a channel that allows more active communication with fans by supporting vivid communication between artists and fans through "Weverse Live." It is also establishing itself as a global fandom life platform by continuously upgrading services by supporting various media contents and commerce functions.
