Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province
Country:South Korea
Huh Chan Mi (허찬미; formerly known as Chanmi) is a South Korean singer currently under A-CL Entertainment. She is a former member of the girl group F-ve Dolls, the co-ed group Coed School, and the pre-debut girl group HIGHCOLOR.
Chanmi began her career in 2004 when she signed with SM Entertainment as a trainee. She trained for an extended period but did not make the final cut to be part of Girls’ Generation, as she was the youngest and only in seventh grade at the time. Rumors suggested that she didn’t make the cut due to the 9-member limit of SNSD. There have been pictures of SNSD with 11 members and more. Afterward, SM Entertainment planned to include her in their next girl group, f(x). Unfortunately, she was cut from the final lineup once again.
She later signed with Core Contents Media (now known as MBK Entertainment) and made her long-awaited debut in Coed School. The group faced numerous scandals, leading to its division into two groups: SPEED and F-ve Dolls.
Chanmi left F-ve Dolls following a bullying scandal. She was working on her solo debut while still under the company. However, MBK Entertainment’s history of bullying scandals overshadowed her solo debut plans.
Chanmi then signed with Pledis Entertainment and participated in Produce 101. She was eliminated in the 10th episode, ranking 26th. After returning to Pledis, she continued training. She was nearly set to debut with PRISTIN but was cut from the lineup once again.
Chanmi joined MLD Entertainment in 2016. MLD Entertainment was coming out a survival show called Finding MOMOLAND. Unfortuanantly, she did not participate and MLD Entertainment has stated that they will put her in their next girl group. Although this girl group was never mentioned again, left the company.
Chanmi joined Mostable Music as part of the pre-debut project HIGHCOLOR. With little public awareness of Mostable Music, there is at least one video of HIGHCOLOR with all four members performing. The group participated in Mix Nine but was eliminated. HIGHCOLOR later debuted as a duo, without Chanmi.
She made her solo debut on July 23, 2020, with the digital single “Highlight” under the name Huh Chan Mi
In February 2023, she had announced that her contact with FirstOne had expired through her SNS account.
