Netizens compare BABYMONSTER's Ahyeon and BLACKPINK's Jennie.
In a community post, OP asked a query that gained various reactions from many netizens. The post had a caption, “Well, there was talk about Ahyeon being the next Jennie, but Jennie's vocals and rap tone itself are much easier to listen to, and it would be difficult to find a girl group member who can catch up with Jennie, who is perfect in all aspects, including appearance, talent, and star quality.”
But hey, many people point out the similarity as a compliment for both idols! Ahyeon and Jennie share some similar features and they are also good at rapping and showing off their vocals. They also perform well and have a great stage presence (as evident on their focus cams!) Many fans point out that it is also the styling and ‘vibes’ that they share.
Additionally, this topic is always brought up from time to time, especially when there is a clip or a new performance by Ahyeon that makes fans plus netizens think of her similarity with Jennie.
We see Ahyeon and Jennie first interact on-screen in BABYMONSTER’s pre-debut reality series ‘Last Evaluation’. In episode one, Jennie was a guest mentor for the group. She even expressed that Ahyeon has the most talent among the members.
Also in one interview, Ahyeon reacted to the the comments relating her to Jennie. She relayed, “Jennie Sunbae-nim is my idol. She has been a huge inspiration to me. To be called ‘Little Jennie’ is an honor. As a junior, I want to do good like my seniors and become an artist who finds her own unique color.”
This discussion shouldn’t be questioned or debated because these two amazing idols can even pass off as sisters! Or… some would say that “like mother, like daughter” can be applied to them. But, of course, Ahyeon and Jennie can shine individually and with their respective groups.
