Chuu Breaks Down In Tears Over Company Dispute At Showcase

On October 18th, Chuu held a debut showcase at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of her first mini-album, Howl.

The title song "Howl," same as the album name, is a song that depicts the story of two wounded people who heals each other, and becomes each other's hero. With it comes b-side tracks, such as "Underwater," "My Place," "Aliens," and "Hitchhiker."

Regarding the title song, Chuu shared, "I have spent time wondering and researching about myself. This song expresses what I wanted to do until now but was unable to do honestly. I think there are moments when everyone is hurt in the world, but this song brought out those moments and gave me courage and hope."

As this is her first solo album to be released in six years, Chuu broke away from her previous bubbly image and showed a different side of herself. Chuu, who stood on stage with pink hair, said, "The fans wanted me to bleach my hair and I wanted to show a new look," adding, "Fans wanted to bleach my hair, and I also wanted to show a new look. I wanted to visually show the impact and atmosphere felt in 'Howl'. Fans said they were so pretty and loved it. I'm proud that they liked it."

Chuu, who played the new song to her acquaintances in advance, said, "I played it to a friend from school who I've been with for 10 years, and they responded, 'Is it your voice?' even though they heard my voice a lot. Everyone was surprised like it was the first time they heard it from me. I think I can show the public a new side of Chuu with a voice that they haven't heard before."

"There are many great vocalists, so I thought a lot about what kind of charm I should grow among them. I want to become a singer who gives a message with delicate sensibility when expressing," she further shared.

As a role model, she chose the award-winning singer-actress IU, whom she had mentioned several times before, and said, "Senior IU is someone who expresses the message of the song so emotionally that it gives great comfort. I also want to touch many people with my songs. She is someone who has had a great influence on me."

It is also a meaningful album for Chuu as it came out after a long legal dispute with former agency Blockberry Creative. As for the secret to not giving up on her dream of becoming a singer even during tiring times, Chuu said, "I love singing so much, and it's like a gift to me. My wish to be the best at singing and to show how I sing is what helped me not to give up on my dream."

Regarding the switch from being in a girl group to a soloist, Chuu shared, "I felt pressured to fill the stage alone. I did my best under the pressure of having to lead every stage alone, and my sense of responsibility grew. I tried to upgrade my skills in various ways, both in vocal and performance aspects.

Moreover, when asked what she wanted to do together with her fans, Chuu said, "Concerts are good, and I want to do a fan meeting-type performance where I can talk closely with fans. Fortunately, I got to do it this time, so I'm preparing with anticipation."

With the release of "Howl," attention is focused on Chuu's next steps as a soloist.
